Fauna of Bukovyna

Fauna of Bukovyna rank among my favorite series of provisional stamps. I like them for their simplicity. Bukovyna is a historical region in Western Ukraine; its name means "Land of Beech Trees." In Lobko's Catalog, the fauna series is named Chernivtsi 7, after Chernivtsi, the capital of the oblast or province.

The first six stamp in the series were issued in November 1993, and the last three were issued in January 1994. Notice the rapid rise in value -- and inflation -- over a couple of months.
