Short Fiction
I'm pretty bummed out that I haven't done any creating writing lately. My last attempt was a fantasy story involving dust mites that found a way to organize themselves into colonies, which could inhabit and animate stuffed animals in a child's room. A hard disk disaster turned that story into recycled electrons. There's a cautionary tale somewhere.
Here are a few of my favorites that have survived.
- The Blue Bus - A story from Verbiage Magazine, Issue #2. I wrote that in 1993, after returning from a trip to Ukraine. I actually made a few bucks with this story. Note that this story is a fantasy!
- The Legend of Canacadea Valley - An unpublished story once featured on the now defunct Cabinet of Dr. Casey. It originally appeared in a weekly "Banewood" column, which I wrote for the Alfred University school paper, the Fiat Lux.
- The Acquisition - "Published" on FSFnet (Vols 3-2 thru 3-5) back in the late 80s. This story also had it's roots from my undergraduate days at Alfred University, when I had a wonderful course called "Tolkein and the Medieval Fantasy," taught by Carol Shilkett.
