Proof Chornobyl Stamp

A proof is a trial printing of a stamp, using the final design decided upon for the actual issue. This proof of the 1996 stamp commemorating the 10-year anniversary of the Chornobyl trajedy in Ukraine (Scott #231) is "imperforate," meaning it was cut from a sheet with no perforations.

Such proofs are said to be highly sought after by collectors. The fact that I had to pay $50 (U.S.) for this specimen certainly validates that notion.
